[ This is not a situation that Calvin ever wants to find himself in. His way of dealing with conflict is to metaphorically roll over and show his belly to the other side, until they decide they're happy with his apology or find him too pathetic to keep being angry at. It works well for him, but it doesn't seem like that's going to work in this case, considering how headstrong both sides seem to be.
It also doesn't help that they ignored any weak protest he made about not being sure if he was the right person for the job, didn't let him pass the buck to the Stranger standing next to him, and have now stormed back into their own respective restaurants telling the two uninvolved newcomers to come inside their restaurant and have a look around.

[ Listening to a news program about flirting isn't that embarrassing in and of itself. As weird as it is Calvin is pretty interested in what he's hearing and stops to listen for a bit--
Up until he remembers that he's out in public, and realizes that someone else is there witnessing him listening to this particular broadcast.
