Evie found herself listening with interest, leaning forward slightly in her chair. "What we were told is that the previous king, King Beast, was chosen from all the princes who allied in the fight against our par... the villains." Hopefully, her companion wouldn't catch the slip. "And I think they had to vote again when it came time for Ben's coronation? I'm not sure. Those details were all settled before my friends and I relocated."

Evie just smiled at the comment about Alex's pronouns. It didn't make much sense to her, but if that's what made the other girl happy, she could roll with it. And she recognized that smile. This girl would fit right in with her friends back home, if she was any judge of character. She'd seen Mal wear that smile so often growing up. "Lovely to meet you, Alex." She gave a little wave of her fingers. "What sorts of things do you like to challenge?"
