feedback

A Gentle Night opened about two months ago, and all of you have made it a success! We're very excited to see everyone threading together and having a good time. In the interest making sure you continue to have a good time, we want to invite feedback from all of you. Tell us what's working for you and what's not. Not sure where to start? We'd love to know if there are areas of the setting you're still struggling to understand or need clarification on; your thoughts on how your characters have been able to gain influence and reputation so far; and whether or not the game's structure so far is working for you.

This post is open and comments are unscreened. If you would rather leave screened feedback, please do so on the mod contact post.

Again, we've been having a great time reading your threads and crafting this game with you, and we look forward to continuing to do so in the coming months!

i'm still new i guess and i am enjoying the Plot Side of things so far, so!! my feedback is an organizational suggestion... is there a game calendar for when posts/etc will go up? can there be? it would be helpful for general plotting!

oh, also i am very fond of the early-but-locked log + ooc plotting post concept. this is my favorite. please always do this one. 👌

I do like the structure and really do appreciate the effort y'all put in setting things up and doing the things(aka the influence bits and all that)

It seemed to be an event driven game initially but I think it is people kinda getting settled in the setting and all. I've only played small games so.. and that seems to be playing out with the recent log posts.

All that said, the only thing I've had a problem with is fitting the power levels, but that is my issue not y'alls to be honest.

And sorry for y'all reading my threads ;)

Oh definitely. And the questions I have had, y'all have been responsive and helpful. And really that extends to general questions that have come up.

So yea, I appreciate that a lot.

Super psyched to hear about the calendar! And echoing what's already been said, being able to sort of preplot out things with the plotting post and the locked event log is really handy!

Beyond that, as somebody who's completely canonblind to the setting the game's based on, the game feels really accessible. There's a lot going on and I commend you guys for keeping track of all these factions and the jewels and which group is mad at which and why while also making it so people like me who hadn't heard of any of this before apping in can get things going pretty easily without fleeing to a wiki or something for help. This also extends to the FAQ and infopages being really easy to search and dig around in. I've modded a canon based game before and found it a struggle sometimes to figure what to include, what not to, and how to pare things down, but this has been a great experience so far!

I also want to chime in and say I enjoy the fact you show us the event post days before the actual event so we have time to plot with others. Plus the fact you have a quick bulletin sheet for more information that's crucial to the event but doesn't fit anywhere in the flow of the information narrative is nice. Especially when said crucial bits in the text is bolded, as it helps bring attention to that bit immediately.

If I could make a suggestion - Perhaps you can set up an AC page where AC is open all month? It’s what a game I used to be part of did and I thought the set up was good.

It allowed the players to submit their completed AC if it was done early and I hope it’ll be less work for you, since all the modteam needs to do is go into the page and see if people have submitted their AC correctly or submitted it at all.
