Welcome to the first plotting post of A Gentle Night.

The first event of the game will see characters arriving in Draega in the wee hours of the night—and immediately suffering an attack from the Hunter Guild. The Hunter Guild loathes the Blood, and they have decided that Queen Fayura's actions must be answered with immediate and severe violence. Meanwhile, the Queen is no where to be found and the Old Town Bazaar burns.

You can read the full event here. The post is currently locked for responses and will open at 8PM EST on the 24th. Take this time to talk to each other about what you're interested in doing and accomplishing in this event.

Questions should be asked here. As both Allairavar and Loren are out and about in this event, you may request that they engage with your character using our NPC request form. Comment to the appropriate character's top-level. For events like this, simply let us know which of your prompts you'd like the NPC to respond to. Remember that members of Fayura's First Circle appear in the event and as minor NPCs can be driven by players at-will.

This is also a good time to talk to your fellow players about the jobs and activities around Draega that will allow you to gain influence this month.

After this event…

► Players can assume that characters know all the information given in the info pages. Whether you handwave a conversation with random NPCs or assume that Loren answered your characters' questions, as of the end of the event all PCs have been informed of the landen Guilds, the Ebon Council, and the state of the world.

► Characters may move out of the Queen's Residence and establish their homes elsewhere. Many buildings in the city are empty and in need of repairs, but no one will stop Strangers from moving in.

► Any one who remains at the Queen's Residence will receive a modest stipend, enough to cover food and drink. Loren will make clear that Strangers who do not live at the residence will not be afforded this money but also that Strangers who do stay are considered part of the Queen's court in as much as actions they take will reflect back on the court.

► Allairavar reminds everyone who chooses to stay at the residence that if you live with the court, you practice with the court. He expects all the Strangers who stay to be on the practice fields with everyone else at dawn. To those who are reticent, he explains that no one needs to learn how to fight only how to defend long enough for help (he seems to imply himself) to arrive.

Maeve!

1. Sweet Dreams: I'm up for either i or ii. Maeve is going to be blazingly angry about the very idea of assassins and ready to ruffle some feathers for a bit of small sparky conflict as she rescues/is rescued. She's also up for hide-and-seek through the halls as she escorts and/or drags someone with her to the dining hall after the initial attacks.
   
2. Fire and Fury: Maeve's going to roll down right into the thick of the fire and find out her boundaries real quick-like as she starts pushing herself to the limits of her new magic. i. Looking for people to swear at her and be sweared at when she charges in and tries to bodily carry people out of the fire or ii. help keep her from getting stabbed and/or trapped in a burning ruin, because she's not going to stop just because she drained her Jewels and has got the 'I'm still upright and there's still a job to do' look in her eye.
   
3. Rest for the Weary: Maeve's going to overhear the exchange between Loren and Allairavar, so if anyone wants to come with her to check in on the Queen, I was thinkin' of summoning an NPC to chat with.
   
4. Overall, though, Maeve's essentially going to be trying to take stock of the landscape and then probably going to throw her lot in with the Queen. If anyone else is stayin' at the Queen's residence, I'd be super up for a "morning after an assassination" awkwardness scene with a handwaved saved-each-other-briefly-from-murder-the-night-before, or perhaps a chat about impressions of the Court, etc.
   
5. For Influence, I have a few ideas for Hope's an Ember and Unquiet Riot, but I've love to do any of them if y'all want a buddy.

Ooh. Let's see, let's see... for Hope's an Ember, I was thinking maybe digging through the rubble to find a missing person and/or fending off a couple of looters?

Otherwise, you wanna make some trouble with the Ebon Council for Unquiet Riot?

Molly's gonna be so weird about anything involving ~politics~ so I'm kinda on board with Unquiet Riot just to make him get out of his comfort zone and be like whhhy am I doing this.

Hello I'm finally here hi.

I'm interested in Sweet Dreams and Rest for the Weary! Do you have a preference for Maeve being the rescuer or the rescued for the first prompt?

Ooh. I vote...rescuer? Maeve's an experienced fighter but not a great one, so she'd be swearing encouragement for Zita to help her out and save her own damn self if you want to go that route. A knight in shining Maeve is not. :D

But I'd be as up for that as I would roping in Loren to chat with the two of them. :)

Oh that'll be fun! I would love to that. Zita has a top-level where she is trying to get the assailant off of her after they got a stab in, so she's definitely trying to give it her all. Give her tips in fighting dirty, Maeve!!

And that's excellent! If you want, I can hit up your top-level for that. :>
