event 02 plotting

A month has passed in the real world and in the game world, and that means it's once again time for something to go hideously wrong.
This month, Strangers arrive peacefully. They sleep through the night, and wake to a household that did not expect more of them. They have the day to grow acclimated to Draega. It's not enough time, but the Guilds and the Council don't care about anyone's comfort but their own. In the early evening, some of the Blood sabotage the power plant northwest of the city. At the same time, a group of angry landens confronts Councilwoman Vera while she's out with her family.
You can read the full event here. The post is currently locked for responses and will open at 8PM EST on the 21st. Take this time to talk to each other about what you're interested in doing and accomplishing in this event.
Questions should be asked here. Strangers are welcome to speak with Loren or Allairavar after breakfast. You may request a thread using our NPC request form. Comment to the appropriate character's top-level. For events like this, simply let us know which of your prompts you'd like the NPC to respond to. You may drive the power plant workers and cityfolk as you please.
Some additional information…
► Strangers at the Queen's Residence will have noticed that more and more often, they are served porridge, simple breads, and fruit of questionable quality at breakfast. There is enough food for everyone, but it's not very tasty.
► At the power plant, Master Elektric Doriah will give Strangers the support they need to get her people out. Inside, there are about 50 landen workers. Each Stranger can save up to three workers. Most of them are trapped in shields of Purple Dusk or lighter. The line managers and overseers are trapped behind Green shields. To free them, you will need to at least wear the Green or use the Breakers donated by Doriah. Anyone trapped in a shield is slowly running out of air as well as overheating. It's not a great feeling.
► The mods will be reading these threads to see how many workers, line managers, and overseers are saved (don't worry about how many of each there are). This will have an impact on faction influence in the future.
► Power will be restored in Draega within a day or two.
► It is common knowledge that Councilwoman Vera loudly dislikes the Guilds. Strangers who have been in Draega for the past month will have heard her position over the Far-casters: if the Guilds are willing to burn the homes of their own people, then they should be willing to fix those homes without assistance of the Blood. The Guilds pursue progress for the sake of progress, polluting the land, river, and air around the city even more than it already is. She accuses the Transport and Tinker Guilds regularly of actively destroying the land, and she has suggested on multiple occasions that the research of the landen Medicos isn't something even the Blood would consider ethical.
► As long as characters are in proximity to Muters, they have no access to any of their powers. They will need to rely on skills that have nothing to do with their supernatural powers. This means that Superman will not have superhuman strength or the ability to fly, and those who can naturally use magic will not be able to. Learned skills (which are those not augmented or inhibited by a Jewel) are not impacted.
► Players have 10 comments (5 each) to diffuse the tensions between landens and Blood in Death of a Councilwoman before the locals become violent. You are welcome to calm people down or let them riot as you please, but the mods will be reading these threads to see if the conflict is resolved peacefully or not. This will have a definite impact on influence in the future.

How will these threads impact influence? Don't worry about that for now. Let your character do what they think is right in these situations. Influence for January will be posted next week when we change over influence jobs for the month. The results of character actions in this event will become apparent in March.
After this event…
► New players can assume that characters know all the information given in the info pages. Whether you handwave a conversation with random NPCs or assume that Loren answered your characters' questions, as of the end of the event all PCs have been informed of the landen Guilds, the Ebon Council, and the state of the world.
► Characters may move out of the Queen's Residence and establish their homes elsewhere. Many buildings in the city are empty and in need of repairs, but no one will stop Strangers from moving in.
► Any one who remains at the Queen's Residence will receive a modest stipend, enough to cover food and drink. Loren will make clear that Strangers who do not live at the residence will not be afforded this money but also that Strangers who do stay are considered part of the Queen's court in as much as actions they take will reflect back on the court.
► Allairavar reminds everyone who chooses to stay at the residence that if you live with the court, you practice with the court. He expects all the Strangers who stay to be on the practice fields with everyone else at dawn. To those who are reticent, he explains that no one needs to learn how to fight only how to defend long enough for help (he seems to imply himself) to arrive.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

After the power plant has been stopped from exploding entirely, Leo would ask Master Elektric Doriah whether they need help with getting the plant and the e-line working again. He'd be willing to explain why he thinks he'd be able to help, or demonstrate his technological/mechanical gifts to prove it. Would his help be accepted?

Daylight is planning to leave the Queen's Residence since he doesn't feel comfortable taking up space and supplies in the wake of what happened at the power plant and the Last Meal. Plus he wants to be more involve with the city's people after seeing what happened at the Power Plant so. Would he be able to make a deal of sorts with one of the Guilds to work for them in exchange for housing or something like that?
He's good at scouting and at the arts, in terms of immediate useful talents. Not to mention very tall and strong. I know it's mentioned that many buildings are empty and in need of repairs, so Daylight can take one for himself but he wouldn't feel comfortable doing that since the buildings could be used for families or useful facilities. Is there any Guild that'll be interested in accepting Day's offer of work for housing?

I have a couple!
In the Death of a CouncilWoman option how bent out of shape would Alairavar get if she also went after the supposed assassin? I was thinking with, likely several Strangers around, that she would view retrieving him would be Ann important thing for a couple of reasons.
The second:
Muters. I get the gist, but with her using her jewel fueled powers to glamour her wings would it be safe to say that her glamours would drop in their presence? And since flight is 'natural' for her, would she still be able to as well? I know, kind of picking at nits, though I'm still working through jewel->ability impact with her in my head, so any further details would be grand to read.

Mary Crawley
- Maaaaybe some CR with Allairavar? Since he's so prominently featured.
- I still want to play around with her not knowing the strength of her magic, mostly humorously and not causing any real damage. That's separate from the event, if anyone wants in on that.
- I think that's it? If you want something specific with Mary please let me know!

Jon Snow
-He's going to try to diffuse the situation in Death of a Councilwoman. He's not the best speaker, but he's going to do his best. When he needs to, he can find the right thing to say to unite people. (There's just no undead zombie to help this time).
-Jon wears the Green, so he's going to be running into the power plant to rescue workers. He can also work with others to free more people.
-Along with this, he's going to try and adjust, as well as feel awkward with magic.
Let me know if you want anything specific?

-Emil is experienced in dealing with fire-related disasters, so he'll be going off to do that! He is NOT experienced in Doing Magic, so he will probably need someone to (literally?) hold his hand through the air-walking process as he will be bad at it and panic a lot.
-please god help him learn magic he's hopeless
-Maybe he could be dragged into the after-aftermath of Death of a Councilwoman? cuz he's definitely more suited to the fire rescue thing, but I'm thirsty. let me know
-Emil is 100% staying in the Queen's Residence because he gets his own bed and free food/money, so if you wanna hang out with him or hear him whine about getting up Early, hello.
-When everything stops going to hell, he's going to want to go Shopping, sigh
-I forgot to mention he has Purple Dusk heck yea
so yea hmu for anything!! also at

Piper McLean
- She's going to want to stay in the Queen's residence long enough to get to know the people there, but then look for another place to stay - maybe a month, maybe two weeks?
- She'd like to help out at the factory, but she's probably better suited to dealing with people after the death of the Councilwoman. She's very good with talking with people, lmk if anyone wants to take that on with her?
- Castmates! Let's hug! (And shout and punch, as the case may be) (and introductions, in Alex's case)
- She's got an Opal jewel, for helping people out if need be
- She's very curious about this whole Craft and Magic business as well, so she's going to want to learn about that ASAP.
- Also, she's going to want to see if she can talk to people and find out more of the history between the Blood and the landen, because this -- this 'trapping innocent people' and 'murdering women in front of their family' is nonsense. She's got a personal interest in this sort of inequality and this is quite the introduction to the state of Draega.
I'm game for all the plotting, please hit me up if you'd like to do something! :D
ZITA HARRINGTON. + DAYLIGHT VIS LORNLIT
ZITA
She's better suited for talking individuals down given her time back in the Midnight Carnival, when she played peacemaker between the carnies and her wards whenever they had a fight. It never reached this level of tension and violence, admittedly, but she's had to talk people down before so this is a better event for her.
She'll do her best to resolve the tensions and keep the peace by speaking. If anyone is willing to help her out on this - whether by by also trying to talk the tensions down or being at the ready if someone wants to fight her or the others at some points - that'll be great!
After that she will be at the aftermath of the BLACKOUT.
After her times with the fires in the first event, Zita will know better than to rush into fires that could potentially kill her and those she's trying to save.
Instead, she'll be helping to make a makeshift health station where the grievously wounded will get immediate aid + be stabilised, along with helping any Healers who happens to be on the scene.
DAYLIGHT
Given his height and build, Daylight will be a better fit for this event since he can enter the fires without fearing the rising temperatures and use his arc energy blasts to clear debris and rubble out of the way so he can get to trapped workers faster.
Since the Breakers will be too small for him to handle, I would like for him to team up with someone where he provides cover and scouts ahead for danger and someone can rescue the staff that are trapped there.
When that's over, Daylight will rush in to help out with the DEATH OF A COUNCILWOMAN event!
He won't be there at the start, so he'll only be helping the others out by providing characters who are present at the start support, whether they resolved the tensions peacefully or not.
Be it guiding people back home or defending people from attacks, Daylight is willing to use his height and size to scare people into not hurting others anymore.

Sansa Stark
- She will more than likely be helping out in DEATH OF A COUNCILWOMAN because she's very diplomatic and would want to see both sides not escalate to further violence. She won't be involved in the factory because Sansa isn't a very physical person and she'd be afraid.
- You can talk to me over at sheikah#5408 or send me a PM!

Daylight is willing to give her cover while she's using the Breaker during the Blackout event! He's too big too use them properly - he could use them, but it'll take too long for his liking - and he's more used to moving ahead to clear spots and paths for people, so I think they'll be a good combo.
And he'll be down for something cheerful after all of these events. He's going to be a little shellshocked at what just occurred and want to do something lighthearted to shake off the uneasiness. Will Daisy like a robot singing to backup her storytelling or need assistance in her pranks? Daylight is down for anything.

takame kesi
- Primarily, he'll be helping with BLACKOUT. Unfortunately, he wears Purple Dusk so he won't be able to break any of the higher-up's shields without the Breakers that he'd probs only barely manage. What he can do is break the weaker ones, scout ahead and escort people out quickly, a few at a time if need be. He's very fast so he'll be able to get in and get out quickly. HE IS THE RESCUE RAEN.
- In terms of DEATH OF A COUNCILWOMAN, he's. Not a people person. He won't be escalating or de-escalating any situation. But he will be around for the aftermath of it, whatever it may be. As long as he's pointed in the right direction.
- He's a loser who's been chilling in the Queen's Residence for the past month. He's also a prime target for any characters who want to get involved in some ridiculous shenanigans or another that no one else would agree to. Please drag him into something dumb.
- Feel free to hit me up on plurk @ bonpuns if you wanna hash something out more!
no subject
Though seriously - Would you like Daylight (Opal Jewel) and him to hang out and focus recusing on workers? Zita, though a Green Jewelled, is unfortunately preoccupied with what's happening at the Last Meal. If Takame is willing to protect Daylight while the poor guy fumbles with the tiny Breaker in his massive robot hands, they could probably be able to get to a few of the managers and overseers too if you want that to happen.

And also - anything else?
(PS: I think Leo gets this face a lot, y/n?)
Horatio Hornblower
- At least for now, Horatio will... probably stay at the residence? It's really hard to turn down a place to stay and some steady income after being stuck in the Peace back home.
- He's also 10000% here for anything remotely to do with drill so you can catch him bright and eager first thing in the morning. Or, you know, exhausted and bedraggled but eager af to learn the science of magic.
- "Coffee, thankfully, is not in short supply" is that a challenge he takes that as a challenge like honestly anyone who wants his food can take it he doesn't even care but he will fight off even small adorable children to have his coffee it's the thing he's missed most
Two Ideals
- Running toward disaster is his Brand, so Horatio will be heading to the power plant for sure. He's got minimal sense of how to take care of his own safety, so if anyone wants an accountabilibuddy while doing rescues, that'd be great.
- Also he's just a sweet baby Tigers Eye, so a stronger buddy would be ideal for shield-breaking.
- He survived his last big fire by holding a damp cloth over his mouth, so that's his master plan now, and he'll deffo be recommending anyone with a collar near him pull it up over their mouths while they're running around.
- That said, he'll probably wind up getting banged up because he's a foolish boy, and hopefully that'll push him toward actively working on Craft rather than just running through the motions when he's meant to. Like get him onto the practical military applications and he'll be all about this life.
Misc
- If anyone else is down to go scouting for libraries, please let him awkwardly attach himself to that effort??
- Also if anyone else plays whist (or wants to learn to count cards) please let this happen?? He's so small and he likes so few fun things.
- Also also if you have any thoughts other than this hmu here or over pm or on plurk (but lmk who you are if you hit me there I'm also small and easily confused)!
Re: Horatio Hornblower
Continuing in that vein, Sansa is not gonna be too into drill stuff so if Horatio can gently encourage her that it's ok for her as a lady to learn how to fight win/win
And she will learn whist from him ahha.

Alex Fierro
-Alex is going to try to get out of the Residence as soon as possible. She doesn't like being beholden to anyone else for food and shelter. She'll probably find one of the abandoned building and squat there until she can figure out a job or something. She's been homeless before, she can handle it.
-I think I'm going to throw Alex at the Blackout - his Purple Dusk limits his shapeshifting a bit, but having someone who can literally bash down walls if need be will probably be helpful. And he's not going to want to leave people trapped. It's certainly not going to endear the Blood to him.
-She's going to be seeking out other Strangers to pool information and try to figure out what exactly is going on. By default, she is going to distrust the Blood and want to side with the landens, so I'd really love folks who can point out the bad stuff the landens have done as well.

Calvin Lee
• He's brand new to this world, so he'll be having his first breakfast in something of a daze, staying behind to listen to that little altercation to realize his being here is a mistake, and try to follow the Queen for more answers.
• Which means he's gonna get himself lost pretty fast in those halls on day one.
(Power Plant)
• Calvin is (I believe) the only PC with a white jewel in game. He's also never had powers of any kind previously, and will probably end up running on the ground most of the way to the power plant, so he'll be nice and winded when he arrives.
• That said he will get his shit together enough to get his feet off the ground and keep them from being burned once he actually gets there, and here's hoping for him that people have put a lot of those fires out, though he'll probably try the old wet cloth trick to at least keep some of the smoke out of his lungs.
• My goal is to have him actually save three people, but I'm also gonna roll with the situation, and maybe he saves less. He's certainly going to try to save as many as possible.
(Assassination)
• Deescalating fights is not his strong suit, he'll be pretty pathetically but desperately trying to get people to calm down, but probably won't be that successful.
• If anyone else seems to need his help in ways that doesn't involve direction talking to angry landens or Bloods, however? He's all over that.

Steve Rogers
Steve will be heading to the power plant for rescuing shenanigans! He wears the Sapphire which means he's even more of a tank than in canon — and let's be real, throwing himself in front of danger is kind of his thing. I'm open to any and all possibilities: Steve organizing rescue efforts, making rescues himself, getting injured in the process, it's all good with me. He won't be participating in the assassination event but is open for talking about it after the fact.
Outside of Event
Steve has elected to stay in the palace so he's a regular at meals and morning training and such. If you'd prefer to craft a meeting around this instead of specific event happenings I'm more than happy to accommodate. Getting a meal in town? Catching a Farcaster broadcast? Exploring? You name it, I'm here for it.
Other Stuff
I'll never be a fast tagger and I know that's off putting for some people so I like to warn for it up front. I'm finally figuring out the balance between school and work and life — I seriously underestimated how much impact going back to school would be like wow — but I'm still going to be slow as molasses so if there's anything you'd want to handwave in terms of regular interactions or such, I'm perfectly willing to accommodate. clarke griffin
→ technically clarke would want to help with the rescuing for the blackout but her jewel isn't strong enough and in general she doesn't think she would be very useful out there so she will kind of be sitting this one out. mostly she will deal with the aftermath of that, she is a trained medic so if anyone gets injured?? she can absolutely help offer first aid and patch people up!
→ clarke will be participating in the death of the councilwoman part of the event though! it is definitely something she is better suited for because trying to be diplomatic and attempting to diffuse situations is something she deals with a lot back home too. so whoever wants to work together with her on that, that can totally happen.

Ren Suzugamori
-Getting familiar with the court, possibly eavesdropping on that whole thing about how this wasn't supposed to happen, but then going on to poke around the city a bit. Ren generally puts on a front of innocent obliviousness when first meeting others, though I'm honestly laughing about the fact that it's not going to last him until the end of the day with what's going on...
-Saving power plant workers. While he is very diplomatic when he wants to be and could probably help with the Death of a Councilwoman prompt in that sense, I feel like right after arrival, the bigger and more explosive event is more likely to grab his attention. He definitely doesn't want to see anyone (...else) die today, and since he has a Purple Dusk gem, he should be able to help with any workers that aren't the most important ones that are stuck behind Green shields. Though he's definitely not above borrowing a Breaker to help out with that if he has to.
